Dear Colleague:

I urge you to vote yes on three amendments made in order last night to H.R. 4310, the FY13 Defense Authorization Bill.

These amendments will safely and responsibly bring our troops home from Afghanistan, keep Pentagon spending within the limits of the Budget Control Act, and ensure a meaningful diplomatic option with Iran is on the table.

The Arizona Communications Workers of America (CWA) State Council announced today their endorsement of Senate Democratic Leader David Schapira, D-Tempe, in the race for Arizona’s Ninth Congressional District. The state council is comprised of the Arizona Correctional Peace Officers Association (AZCPOA), the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA and multiple CWA local affiliates.

Congressman Raúl Grijalva, AZ-07, today announced his endorsement of Arizona Senate Democratic Leader David Schapira, D-Tempe, in his campaign for Arizona’s Ninth Congressional District. “Voters are looking for candidates who stand up for what they believe in and can win, not by hiding their values, but by sharing them with voters. David is that candidate,” said Rep. Grijalva.

As predicted, former state Senator Kyrsten Sinema's not the only Democrat with her eye on Arizona's new Congressional seat -- this morning, state Senate Minority Leader David Schapira announced that he, too, will run in Arizona's newly formed 9th Congressional district.

The veteran activist and writer may become one of the most progressive people on Capitol Hill. Norman Solomon isn’t the typical candidate for Congress. And that’s a compliment – he might actually be one of the most promising candidates ever, from a progressive standpoint.

Elizabeth Warren: Yes She Can?

It was a grim, sleety day in Chicopee, a gritty postindustrial town in western Massachusetts, where paint flakes off worn-out bridges and boarded-up factories. At a community relations luncheon, kind security guards were opening back doors and holding out umbrellas for the few willing to brave the freezing slush.

With election day, May 8, approaching fast, Cecil Bothwell is bashing his main rival in the 11th Congressional District Democratic primary, Hayden Rogers, for taking campaign donations from the payday loan industry. Bothwell and other critics of the industry say it profits from predatory lending that targets young and low-income workers.

Norman Solomon's campaign for California's new North Coast Congressional district (CA-02) released the results of the most recently conducted poll in the race, showing Solomon in second place in the 12-way contest, in which the top two finishers in June's primary election will advance to the November general election.

"He had a minor in economics," Rob Zerban says of his opponent. "What experience does he have to say that he's the great budget oracle?" "The people of the First District can see where that budget impacts their lives. Their bridges start to crumble. We've got 16 bridges on federal highways alone in the district that have been declared structurally deficientm and that doesn't include county and local municipal bridges.

"Eric Cantor's War on American Jobs" by E. Wayne Powell

My name is Wayne Powell, and I'm a Democrat running for Congress in Virginia's 7th Congressional District to replace Eric Cantor. Americans need good jobs now.  Let's face it, as a nation we tend to define ourselves by what we do.  I am an attorney and a retired military officer.  When you deny Americans an opportunity to do meaningful work and contribute to their community by providing services, you are attacking a key part of their individual identities.
